Angels

Angels is located on a quiet, paved road, with easy access midway between the Town of Taos and the Taos Ski Valley, about a 10-15 minute drive to either one. The only problem? Once you glimpse the breathtaking views and curl up in front of the cozy kiva fireplace, you may not want to leave!

And YES, green can be beautiful, gracious, welcoming, and comfortable. If you are curious about sustainable building, and wondering if it is possible to live lightly on the earth without giving up modern comforts, stay at this bright, beautiful, custom built, green home. Our environmentally sustainable systems are explained throughout the house, and you can learn first hand how this home keeps its occupants pampered and the land happy.

Angels is a classic Northern New Mexican territorial style home, with pitched metal roof, post and beam construction, interior adobe walls and thick plaster exterior walls with straw bale infill. It's sunny and bright, with incredible details; flagstone bancos surrounding a beautiful masonry kiva fireplace; exquisite tile work in the bath; hand plastered walls with bits of straw and mica gleaming from the depths. The kitchen is one of a kind: granite tile counter tops are inlaid with turquoise, and a genuine cast iron British cooker in chile-pepper-red will invite your pets to sprawl before it, basking in its gentle warmth.

There's a second story "away" area for the kids to play, sleep, and watch Dish TV or DVDs. If you aren't bringing kids, adults will love the upstairs too. The west side offers a comfortable overstuffed chaise for reading, a desk to set up your laptop and use the high speed wireless DSL, and a view of the amazing Taos sunsets. Or cross the second story bridge over to the east side. You can practice your yoga sun salutes as the sun rises over the sacred Taos Mountain, or just stretch out on the couch and watch TV. And that's just the inside.

Outside you'll find spectacular views in every direction. The house is "L" shaped and wraps snugly around a covered flagstone portal (porch) furnished with wrought iron table, chairs, and gas grill for outdoor dining and relaxation. Grown pinon and juniper trees give the patio area a sense of peace and privacy.

Angels House best suits a couple wanting a beautiful, romantic getaway, or a couple with up to three children. The grown-up's bedroom is down one side of the house's "L" and offers a retreat from the kitchen, living room and upstairs. The bedroom has a brand-new queen bed and private entrance to the dual-sink bath with whimsically tiled shower. But if you brought the kids, the bath has a second door opening to the hallway, so that they don't need to disturb mom and dad to use the bathroom.
