Elizabeth House

Elizabeth House is a true adobe built in the 1930's by Frank Brooks and set in a small neighborhood in the historic district of the town of Taos. The house is situated on a half acre that borders the Taos Pueblo Land and is within walking distance of the Plaza and Kit Carson Park, many art galleries, shops and restaurants. Located on the north side of town, it is also very convenient to the Taos Ski Valley. The lush yard has mature evergreen and deciduous trees and a beautiful fruit orchard from which a small white cross that marks a morada can be seen. That cross, set against Taos Mountain which is located just to the north, was the subject of 2 paintings by Georgia O'Keefe. While retaining its Old Taos character, the house has been updated and includes a large, well-appointed, modern kitchen. The house is beautifully furnished in the southwestern tradition and the living and dining areas have gorgeous hickory wood floors. Just off the dining room is a lovely, shaded flagstone patio that leads to a hot tub. Elizabeth House is the essence of Old Taos charm in a very convenient and comfortable setting!
